Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali has officially completed filming for his much-awaited film Love and War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. After nearly two years of work on the ambitious project, the filmmaker has now moved into the post-production phase.
The makers marked the end of the shoot with an emotional farewell involving Bhansali and the entire film unit, bringing an end to the lengthy production journey.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali Begins Post-Production Work
According to a press note issued by the makers, Bhansali has now shifted his focus towards post-production. The director and the complete team came together to celebrate the completion of filming before beginning the next stage of the project.
The film has been generating significant anticipation, particularly because it marks the reunion of Bhansali and Ranbir Kapoor nearly two decades after their first collaboration.
Ranbir Kapoor and Bhansali Reunite After Saawariya
Ranbir Kapoor previously worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Saawariya, which marked his acting debut in 2007. Their reunion in Love and War has therefore become one of the film’s biggest talking points.
For Vicky Kaushal, Love and War marks his first collaboration with Bhansali.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt is reuniting with the filmmaker after their successful association in the 2022 period drama Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Love and War Announced in 2024
The film was officially announced in January 2024, with the makers unveiling the project on Instagram with the message:
“We bring you Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic saga ‘Love & War.’ See you at the movies.”
Since its announcement, the film has remained one of the most anticipated upcoming Bollywood projects.
Love and War Release Date
Love and War is scheduled to release in cinemas on January 21, 2027.
With principal photography now complete, the makers will focus on editing, visual effects, music and other post-production work ahead of the theatrical release.
Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s Upcoming Projects
Vicky Kaushal was last seen in Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar. The 2025 historical film also featured Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna in key roles.
Alia Bhatt’s most recent release was Alpha, which also stars Sharvari and Bobby Deol. Backed by Yash Raj Films, the film released this year but reportedly failed to make a strong impact at the box office.
Ranbir Kapoor, meanwhile, is gearing up for Ramayana: Part I, scheduled for a global release on November 6, 2026. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film also features Yash, Sunny Deol, Ravie Dubey and Sai Pallavi in prominent roles.
With the shoot of Love and War now wrapped, fans will be eagerly waiting for further updates, including the film’s teaser, trailer and first official look.
