New Delhi: The Chinese Defense Ministry has announced that India and China have agreed to accelerate the resolution of the ongoing standoff in Ladakh. The two sides have been engaged in a military standoff in the region since May 2020.

The Chinese Defense Ministry stated that the two countries have agreed to maintain communication and dialogue to promote the disengagement of troops in the remaining areas along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The Chinese Defense Ministry also said that both sides have agreed to strengthen communication and coordination in order to maintain peace and stability in the border areas.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has not yet commented on the Chinese Defense Ministry’s announcement.

The standoff between India and China in the Ladakh region began in May 2020 when the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) reportedly crossed the LAC and set up military camps in the Galwan Valley. The Indian Army responded by deploying troops to the region, and since then, there have been several rounds of talks between the two countries to try and resolve the situation.

The situation in Ladakh has remained tense despite multiple rounds of talks, and both India and China have accused each other of violating the LAC. The Indian Army has also accused China of carrying out transgressions into Indian territory.

The announcement by the Chinese Defense Ministry that both countries have agreed to accelerate the resolution of the standoff is a positive development, and it is hoped that the two sides will be able to resolve the situation peacefully and amicably.
