New Delhi: Virender Sehwag, a former Indian cricketer, recently shared Sachin Tendulkar’s fitness story, revealing that the Master Blaster used to compete with Virat Kohli to keep up with the younger generation. Tendulkar served Indian cricket for nearly 25 years and was the first person to score 100 international centuries. According to Sehwag, Tendulkar was always looking for ways to improve his game, whether by adding new techniques to his batting or focusing on his fitness to convert centuries into double centuries.

Sehwag stated that Tendulkar was more focused on fitness than the other players in the early 2000s, and even competed with Virat Kohli in 2008. Despite facing several injuries, Tendulkar always managed to come back stronger and better than before.

Sehwag, who played alongside Tendulkar throughout his career, attributed his senior’s longevity to his dedication to fitness. Tendulkar knew that taking care of his body was crucial to his success, and he never slacked off on his fitness routine.

Sehwag also shared an incredible story of Tendulkar’s strength, recalling a time when they were in a gym together. Tendulkar effortlessly lifted dumbbells ranging from 1kg to 20kg, while Sehwag and the others struggled to lift anything beyond 5kg. Tendulkar’s focus on his forearms helped him lift his heavy bat without tiring, enabling him to play at the highest level well into his 40s.

Overall, Sehwag’s account of Tendulkar’s dedication to fitness underscores the importance of maintaining physical health and wellbeing, especially for athletes seeking to excel in their sport over an extended period.
