New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli is on the verge of a major milestone in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he needs just 12 runs to become the first player in the tournament’s history to score 7,000 runs.
Kohli is currently the highest run-scorer in IPL history with 6,988 runs in 196 matches at an average of 38.16 and a strike rate of 130.47. He has scored five centuries and 41 half-centuries in the league so far.
RCB is scheduled to play their next match against Punjab Kings on May 6, 2023, in Ahmedabad. Kohli will be eyeing the milestone in this match and will look to continue his good form with the bat.
Kohli has been in good form in the ongoing IPL season, scoring 231 runs in six matches at an average of 46.20 and a strike rate of 133.72. He has scored two half-centuries so far and will be looking to convert them into big scores in the upcoming matches.
Apart from being the highest run-scorer in IPL history, Kohli is also the leading run-scorer for RCB with 6,557 runs in 192 matches. He has been leading the franchise since 2013 and will be hoping to guide them to their maiden IPL title this season.
