Tushar Mehta reappointed as Solicitor General of India on 30 June

Tushar Mehta will be reappointed as India’s Solicitor General for a period of three years beginning on July 1, 2023, or until further instructions, whichever comes first, by the Union Cabinet’s Appointments Committee.

As Additional Solicitors General (ASGs) at the Supreme Court, Vikramjit Banerjee, KM Nataraj, Balbir Singh, SV Raju, N Venkataraman, and Aishwarya Bhati have all received reappointments.

Sanjay Jain, Jayant K Sud, and Madhavi Diwan’s stints as ASGs have ended.

The Central Government appointed Tushar Mehta as Solicitor General in October 2018 when he was still an Additional Solicitor General. He was reappointed by the Centre as the SG in June 2020 for a three-year term beginning on July 1.
