TN village panchayat president’s husband, 5 others held for extortion bid

CHENNAI: Six individuals, together with the husband of a village panchayat president, had been arrested by the Tamil Nadu Police in a case associated to extortion and threats.

The six had been arrested by theTambaram Police on Tuesday night.

Bhagavathi has been elected because the President of Kattankulathur village in Tambaram of Chennai. She acquired elected as an impartial candidate.

Ever since she turned president lately on account of change of regime within the panchayat, her husband Nagarajan who’s an actual property businessman has been interfering within the affairs of the panchayat.

The gang, based on Guduvanchery Police threatened the corporate and demanded 20 vehicles of sand for a highway development work freed from price. When the corporate refused, Nagarajan and his gang threatened to burn down all of the vehicles.

The corporate filed a grievance and police arrested Nagarajan and 5 different accomplices.

Instantly after the arrest of Nagarajan and his gang, native individuals surrounded the police station and police needed to resort to pressure to take away the protesters.
