In a tense and heartbreaking turn of events, four policemen lost their lives in an intense encounter with terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kathua district. The operation, which took place in the early hours of March 28, 2025, resulted in the killing of three terrorists as well. This attack marks another tragic chapter in the ongoing security challenges faced by the region.

The encounter, which occurred in a remote part of Kathua, was initiated after intelligence inputs suggested the presence of militants planning an attack in the area. A team of Jammu & Kashmir Police, backed by Indian Army personnel, launched a coordinated operation to neutralize the militants. However, the militants, who had been lying in wait, opened fire on the security forces as soon as they arrived, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire.

The encounter, which lasted for several hours, ended with the elimination of three terrorists, although at a high cost. The four policemen, who were part of a special counter-terrorism unit, displayed exceptional bravery in the face of adversity, but unfortunately, they lost their lives in the line of duty. Their sacrifice has been mourned across the region, with both local authorities and citizens honoring their courage and commitment to protecting the nation.

The identity of the terrorists remains under investigation, but authorities believe they were part of a group linked to a larger militant network operating in the region. The incident underscores the ongoing threat posed by such groups in Jammu & Kashmir, despite years of concerted efforts by Indian security forces to eradicate terrorism from the region.
