The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its verdict on whether to legalize same-sex marriage. A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra, which heard several pleas filed by the Indian LGBT community seeking the right to live together, said it will give the judgment at a later date.

The Centre had earlier told the apex court that it would not contest if a bench decided to decriminalize homosexuality. However, it said that they would not be in favor of allowing same-sex marriages. The court heard several pleas filed by the Indian LGBT community seeking the right to live together and their plea for protection from discrimination.
