MUMBAI: Actress Rashmika Mandanna has reacted after the principle accused, who created her deepfake video, was arrested.

Th actress took to X (previously Twitter) and wrote: “Expressing my heartfelt gratitude to @DCP_IFSO. Thanks for apprehending these accountable. Feeling really grateful for the group that embraces me with love, help and shields me.

“Women and boys – in case your picture is used or morphed wherever with out your consent. It’s improper! And I hope it is a reminder that you’re surrounded by individuals who will help you and motion will likely be taken!”

The primary accused behind Rashmika’s deepfake video, which went viral on social media platforms, was arrested from Andhra Pradesh by a Delhi Police group, an official stated on Saturday.

The accused, recognized as Eemani Naveen, 24, a resident of Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district, was chargeable for creating, importing and circulating the deepfake video by means of varied social media platforms.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, IFSO, Hemant Tiwari stated {that a} criticism was obtained alleging {that a} deepfake video of a famous movie actress is being circulated on social media platforms.

Through the preliminary evaluation it was discovered that the unique video was uploaded by a British Indian lady on her Instagram account in October 2023 and afterward, the deepfake video of the actress was created and circulated on varied social media platforms.
