The Congress on Friday strongly opposed the “undemocratic” thought of holding simultaneous elections within the nation and mentioned it goes towards the ensures of federalism and the fundamental construction of the Structure.

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge additionally demanded that the thought be deserted and the high-powered committee shaped to review it’s dissolved.

In a letter to the secretary of the committee on one nation, one election, he requested former president Ram Nath Kovind, who heads the panel, “to not enable his persona and the workplace of the previous president of India to be abused by the Union authorities to subvert the structure and parliamentary democracy on this nation”. “The Indian Nationwide Congress is strongly against the very thought of ‘One Nation, One Election’. For the sake of sustaining a thriving and a sturdy democracy, it’s crucial that your complete thought have to be deserted and the high-powered committee dissolved,” Kharge mentioned in his letter to Niten Chandra, the secretary of the committee.
