Former DRDO Employee Dies by Suicide at Delhi Metro Station

New Delhi : A former employee of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has tragically taken his own life by jumping in front of a Delhi metro train at the Mayur Vihar Phase 1 station. Ajay Laxman Pakhale, 34, was said to have been suffering from mental illness and was previously an M.Tech graduate from IIT Kanpur. He worked for the DRDO for four years before taking on a role as a senior manager at GAIL, which he resigned from in November 2022.

The Delhi Police were alerted to the incident by the station controller and quickly arrived at the scene. Upon investigation, they discovered that Pakhale had been receiving treatment for his mental health at Apollo Hospital. He was unmarried and no suicide note was found.

According to CCTV footage, the incident took place around 1.51 pm on Sunday. The body was taken to a nearby government hospital for a postmortem examination.
