BJP MLA’s son caught accepting Rs 40 lakh bribe; Rs 7.62 crore recovered in raids

Bengaluru : The son of a BJP MLA has been caught accepting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh by Lokayukta authorities. V Prashant Madal, son of Channagiri BJP MLA K Madal Virupakshappa, was arrested in his father’s Crescent Road office in Bengaluru while accepting the bribe from a private individual in connection with a tender process. Lokayukta sleuths also found Rs 7.62 crore at Prashant’s and his aides’ residences. Prashant had previously been accused in a Rs 55 crore misappropriation case in Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KIRDL) and was suspended along with two others by the government.

The case was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Five people, including Prashant, have been arrested in connection with the case.
