Mumbai: Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, who is known for her fashion sense and activism, recently faced severe criticism on social media for sporting a “Speak up for animals” T-shirt while carrying a leather bag.

Alia Bhatt was spotted wearing the T-shirt, which had the slogan “Speak up for animals” written on it, while she was out and about in Mumbai. However, netizens were quick to notice that she was also carrying a luxury leather bag, which they pointed out was contradictory to the message on her T-shirt.

Many social media users called out the actress for her hypocrisy, with some accusing her of being insensitive and ignorant towards animal rights. Several comments on the post read, “Hypocrisy at its best,” and “Does she even know what she’s promoting?”

This is not the first time Alia Bhatt has been criticized for her fashion choices. In 2019, she faced backlash for promoting a sustainable lifestyle while endorsing a luxury car brand.

However, some fans of the actress came to her defense, arguing that it is possible to care for animal rights while still using animal products. Others pointed out that it is unfair to judge someone’s beliefs and values based on their fashion choices.

Despite the criticism, Alia Bhatt has not responded to the controversy. The actress is currently busy with the shooting of her upcoming film “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani” alongside Ranveer Singh, which is being directed by Karan Johar.
