Early Life: Himanshu is the youngest among his three sisters. He was born in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. His father was Mr Prafulla Kumar rai, a Head Master, and the one who inspired him for writing and reading. His father was his first editor and edited his poetries and stories, which he started writing at five. His first poem, titled ‘Gulab’, was published in Danik Bhaskar when he was in class five.
Himanshu’s mother, Meera Rai, was a housewife but a learned woman. His childhood was spent at the house in Sagar with all his cousins, who all lived in a joint family. His grandfather was a known doctor, freedom fighter and politician, Dr. B.B. Rai.
After completing his schooling at St. Joseph convent School Sagar, he opted for engineering. He completed his degree in Electronics and Telecommunication from Guru Ramdas Khalsa Engineering College, Jabalpur. He actively participated in theatres and other extra circular activities of the college.

After his college, he worked in Telecommunication companies and marked his presence. Got married to Sona Gaur on 26th Jan 2006. He always says that Sona is the real reason for making him an author.
