Born on a cold February morning in the picturesque hill station of Coonoor, nestled in the Blue Mountains, Radhika had a natural flair for literature and expression through the medium of writing from a very early age. She did her schooling at St. Joseph’s Convent, Coonoor and graduation in Mathematics from Providence College for Women. The classical works of Shakespeare, Keats and Milton fascinated her and she found immense pleasure in plunging into the waters of the works of Hardy and Longfellow.
Her literary skills were sharpened and polished while she was at school where she started penning short stories and poems.
Encouraged by the appreciation she won for her creations, including a national level gold medal for short story writing she went on to publish several short stories and articles in magazines. After completing her post-graduation from Madras Christian College, Chennai and her M.Phil., she went on to teach Mathematics at renowned engineering colleges for more than a decade and a half. She obtained her M.S., in Education and Ph.D in Mathematics and continues to quench her thirst for teaching by tutoring students at her institute in Chennai.
Though passionate about Mathematics, Radhika’s love for writing can be innately felt in her stories and poems. Her creations generally speak about common human emotions experienced in life situations, kissed with a touch of longing and nostalgia. Her unique description of the settings of a story help the reader visualize the situation and strikes a chord with the readers. She has won several accolades for her works and several acclaimed reviews.
Radhika published her debut book in October 2020 under the banner of Buuks Publications. The book entitled ‘A Canopy of Carnations’ is a collection of heart touching short stories that every reader can relate to. The book was received well with good reviews and went on to the prestigious short list nominations for LIT Digital Awards. It contains a collection of nine stories that is bound to take the reader through a roller coaster ride of emotions ranging from happiness, surprise to deep pain and sorrow.
Her second book was published in March 2021 by Clever Fox Publishing. The book entitled ‘Contrived Connections’ is a spell bounding novel set in a quaint Kerala village. The book has received wide appreciation for the in depth portrayal of village life and minute description of the village. It traces the path of Sivakami and her colleague Sharan who visit the village for their common friend’s wedding and how a casual vacation metamorphoses into an unexpected turn of events that reveal hidden secrets in the lives of many people.
Radhika’s short story ‘The Downpour’ was published as a part of an anthology of short stories titled ‘Once Upon A Time’ , comprising stories that were selected among best entries received by Bookohlics Book Club for their short story contest conducted in 2021.
Radhika has won several awards till date at national and state level. She aims to grow more and get more fame in the industry
