Two ladies given ‘triple talaq’ outdoors Tis Hazari courtrooms, FIRs lodged

NEW DELHI: Two instances of ‘triple talaq’ contained in the premises and outdoors the Tis Hazari courtroom rooms have been reported, police stated on Friday.

A police official additional stated that on Wednesday, two separate instances of triple talaq had been registered on the Subzi Mandi Police Station, invoking the Muslim Ladies (Safety of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019.

Within the first case, the complainant, Dr. T, a 27-year-old resident of Batla Home alleged that on July 11, 2023, whereas attending courtroom proceedings associated to Upkeep and the Home Violence Act together with her sister at Tis Hazari Court docket, her husband pronounced triple talaq outdoors the courtroom.

Regardless of holding a Ph.D. in chemistry, Dr. T had not filed a divorce case in opposition to her husband.

“After an intensive investigation, the case has been registered, ” Deputy Commissioner of Police, North, Manoj Kumar Meena stated.

The opposite case was of a 24-year-old complainant, a resident of Shradhanand Marg right here, who bought married on February 18, 2021, in Mumbai.

“As a consequence of alleged harassment by her in-laws, she left her matrimonial home and returned to her mother and father’ home in Delhi. She had beforehand lodged instances underneath sections 498A and 406 of the IPC, at PS Kamla Market, and filed a petition in courtroom for upkeep and underneath the Home Violence Act, ” stated the DCP.

On July 12, 2023, whereas attending courtroom proceedings associated to Upkeep and the Home Violence Act together with her household at Tis Hazari courtroom, she claimed that her husband, Naeem Mohammad Ansari, pronounced triple talaq outdoors the courtroom.

“Much like the primary case, no divorce case had been filed by the complainant. After an in depth inquiry, the case has been formally registered, ” the DCP added.
