The army reported on Tuesday that security forces killed four terrorists in a joint operation after receiving information about their presence at Sindhara in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The army claimed in a tweet that the four were killed following a joint cordon and search operation it conducted with the Jammu and Kashmir Police based on the tip-off. According to the report, the location also yielded four AK-47s, two handguns, and other military-style supplies. Eliminating these terrorists helped to prevent significant terrorist-initiated incidents in the Rajouri and Poonch areas. Search efforts are still ongoing.

According to those with knowledge of the situation, the operation began a gunfight on Monday night at about 11:30 p.m. “…night vision equipment and other surveillance drones were employed to find the terrorists. A person with knowledge of the situation claimed that the confrontation resumed at early light on Tuesday morning with a significant exchange of gunfire between security personnel and militants.

Foreign nationals are thought to be the killer terrorists. They were killed in the midst of an uptick in regional violence this year. On April 20 and May 5, two ambushes in the districts of Poonch and Rajouri resulted in the deaths of ten soldiers. Seven Hindus were slain by terrorists in targeted strikes on January 1 and January 2 in Rajouri’s Dhangri. The three attacks’ perpetrators are still at large.

On May 8, the People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), a Jaish-e-Mohammed faction, posted a 2.5-minute video clip of the April 20 ambush online. The footage appeared to show a terrorist shooting a soldier repeatedly while wearing a body camera. The group also made a video of the ambush on May 5.

A Pakistani terrorist was killed by security personnel on June 2 in Dasal Gujran, Rajouri.
