Govt announces the second edition of Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman

The second Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman has been declared by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Thirty-three Sammans will be awarded under the Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman 2023 in three categories: print, television, and radio, in twenty-two Indian languages, as well as English. Under the category of Best Media Coverage in Yoga in Newspaper, eleven Sammans will be given out in 22 Indian languages in addition to English. Under the category of Best Media Coverage in Yoga in Electronic Media (TV), eleven Sammans will be given out in 22 Indian languages in addition to English. Under the category of Best Media Coverage in Yoga in Electronic Media (Radio), eleven Sammans in 22 Indian languages, as well as English, will be given out.
Yoga has transcended borders and cultures, capturing the interest of millions globally, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said in announcing the awards for the year 2023. According to him, the holistic approach to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being has drawn a lot of attention and become a worldwide phenomenon. According to Mr. Thakur, this accomplishment would not have been achieved without the media’s tireless efforts to raise awareness and highlight the transformational power of yoga. He claimed that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting made the decision to hold the second Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman this year in honor of this. Mr. Thakur continued by saying that Samman applauds the crucial role that the media plays in spreading awareness of yoga both within and outside of India. As we commemorate the International Day of Yoga, he argued that it is essential to acknowledge the enormous influence and duty that the media has in promoting this age-old practice and all of its advantages. According to the minister, the media has sped up the knowledge, appreciation, and implementation of this important practice. According to him, the media has been successful in portraying yoga as a practice that is open to people of all ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, and abilities.

An impartial Jury will recommend The Samman. The Samman will include a citation as well as a specific media item, plaque, or trophy.
According to the instructions, media outlets must submit their information in a certain format along with pertinent clippings from articles they have written and published or from audio or visual content they have aired or broadcast between June 10 and June 25, 2023. The deadline for entries is July 1st, 2023.
