New Delhi: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has called for a ban on MPs and MLAs with more than two children from contesting elections. Pawar stated that politicians who have more than two children should not be allowed to run for office, as this will help control the population and conserve resources.

Pawar made these comments while speaking at an event in Pune on Saturday. He stated that the country’s population is increasing at an alarming rate, and it is essential to take measures to control it. Pawar believes that implementing a two-child policy for politicians would be a significant step in that direction.

According to reports, Pawar’s comments were met with mixed reactions, with some supporting his proposal and others criticizing it. Some people stated that politicians should not be singled out, and the two-child policy should be implemented for everyone. Others argued that the government should focus on improving access to family planning and educating people about the importance of controlling the population.

It is worth noting that India’s population is expected to overtake China’s by 2027, according to the United Nations. The country has implemented various population control measures in the past, such as the implementation of a sterilization program in the 1970s and 1980s. However, these measures have been criticized for being coercive and violating human rights.

In recent years, the Indian government has focused on improving access to family planning and promoting education about the importance of controlling the population. It remains to be seen whether Pawar’s proposal will be implemented or not, but it has sparked a debate about population control measures in the country.
