New Delhi: The British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has come under police scrutiny once again, this time due to his dog’s actions. Sunak has previously been fined twice by the UK police for disregarding pandemic lockdown rules and not wearing a seatbelt while driving. On Tuesday, a police officer approached Sunak and his family for letting their dog, Nova, off the leash in Hyde Park, London. The police officer spoke to a woman, who was likely a member of Sunak’s family, and reminded her of the rule that dogs must be kept on a leash in that area. The dog was then put back on a leash, and the police took no further action.

This incident was prompted by a video shared on TikTok, which appeared to show Sunak and his family walking their dog off-leash in Hyde Park. However, it is unclear when the video was filmed. The Metropolitan Police released a statement acknowledging the video and stating that an officer present at the time had spoken to the woman in question.

Sunak has had two previous run-ins with the law during his political career. In January, he was fined for taking off his seatbelt while filming a social media video in a moving car. Last year, when he was Treasury Chief, he was fined £50 for breaching pandemic lockdown rules by briefly attending a party inside government offices. He was one of many officials fined as part of the “partygate” scandal, which also implicated the then-Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.
