New Delhi : Virat Kohli is poised to reach a major milestone in international cricket as he is just 64 runs away from accumulating 250,000 runs. The former India captain has a chance to achieve this feat in Nagpur, during the first Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, starting Thursday.

Despite his recent success for India, Kohli has struggled in Test cricket as of late. Since returning to form in September, he has played in two Tests against Bangladesh and failed to reach a score of 50 or above.

However, Kohli has historically been successful against Australia and the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 provides him the perfect opportunity to make a comeback in the Test format.

As of now, Kohli has 24936 international runs and ranks sixth on the list, behind Jacques Kallis (25534), Mahela Jayawardene (25937), Ricky Ponting (27483), Kumar Sangakkara (28016), and the leader Sachin Tendulkar (34357).

Nagpur has been a fortunate ground for Kohli as he has accumulated 354 runs in three matches at this venue. He has hit two centuries, including a double century against Sri Lanka in 2017.
