Manipur’s Imphal west district has witnessed a recent uproar in the form of two houses being set ablaze and multiple gunshots being heard, declared the police.
The incident is noted to have occurred on 4 October around 10 PM in New Keithelmanbi in Patsoi police station area. They also mentioned that subsequent to creating a ruckus in the area, the accused fled the spot.
A state of normalcy was reinstated by the Security forces and fire services personnel, informed the police. A mob of women were also impeded from entering the area subsequent to the incident by the security forces, they said.
Nearly 180 people have lost their lives since May 3, when the ethnic violence had seen it’s first light, following a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ to remonstrate against Meitei community’s stipulation for Scheduled Tribe status.
