Riddhima recently sat down for an exclusive interview to discuss her impactful role as Simmi in the popular series “Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar.” Riddhima delved into the complexities of her character, the show’s powerful themes, and the overwhelming response from viewers.
Simmi, a pivotal character in the series, initially appears as a bubbly and playful sister, teasing her brother about his love life. However, her journey takes a dark turn when a traumatic incident leaves her emotionally shattered, ultimately leading to her tragic suicide. “Simmi was a fascinating character to portray,” Riddhima shared. “She was both notorious and deeply emotional. The scene where she is humiliated was profoundly impactful, and it was challenging to embody that level of despair.” She credited Shraddha Pasi and Kamal Pandey for her guidance, adding, “Realizing I had to act like I do with my own brother made it easier to connect with Simmi’s journey.”
“Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar” explores themes of love, betrayal, and societal constraints, but Riddhima believes it offers a unique perspective. “The show delves into the psychological impact of traumatic events, like the humiliation faced by Kuldeep and his family. It adds realism by highlighting societal barriers like caste and class discrimination, setting it apart from other romantic dramas.”
The series has garnered immense love and appreciation, something Riddhima is deeply grateful for. “The entire team worked tirelessly, and the response has been overwhelming. The heartfelt comments about Simmi’s suicide scene, with many viewers expressing how deeply it moved them, have been truly humbling.” She expressed her gratitude to the entire team, particularly Kamal Sir, Shraddha Ma’am, and Sachin Sir.
Riddhima also shared her experiences on set, highlighting the supportive atmosphere. “Being on set was incredible. I learned so much from my co-stars, not just about acting, but about life. As an introvert, it can be difficult to socialize, but Sanchita and Dhaval made me feel comfortable. The entire team was incredibly supportive, especially since I was the youngest actor there.”
As a young artist, Riddhima is drawn to diverse roles and genres. “Every role has its own significance. Sometimes you want to portray a joyful character, other times you’re drawn to emotionally intense roles. The more challenging and intricate a character is, the more exciting it becomes.”
Balancing her passion for acting with her studies is a priority for Riddhima. “My mother has been incredibly supportive in helping me stay focused on my education. I believe in prioritizing my mental and emotional well-being. Time management is crucial, though I admit I’m a bit clumsy and often lose track of time.”
Riddhima’s interest in acting sparked at the age of 11 after discovering Instagram. “Watching people act and dance ignited a fire in me,” she recalled. While she values social media for connecting with her followers, she emphasizes that it’s not her top priority. “It’s a privilege to be loved and supported by so many people. Hearing that my work has touched them is deeply fulfilling.”
Riddhima remains tight-lipped about specific projects but promises exciting announcements soon. “Things are still in the works, and I’m excited about what’s ahead. I can’t wait to share these upcoming projects and hope they connect with you just as much as my previous work has.”
