This year, India will play home to the prestigious Miss World international beauty contest, over three decades after its inception.
The 71st Miss World competition is anticipated to occur in November of this year, though the dates have not yet been determined.
The Miss World pageant had last been held in India in 1996.
The month-long tournament will draw competitors from over 130 nations and include a variety of demanding events like talent shows, sporting challenges, and philanthropic endeavors — all designed to highlight the traits that make them change agents.
“I’m excited to announce that the 71st Miss World Final will now take place in India… At a news conference on Thursday, Julia Morley, chairperson and CEO of the Miss World organization, stated, “We cannot wait to showcase your distinct and diversified culture, world-class attractions, and stunning settings with the rest of the globe.
“The 71st Miss World 2023 will showcase the Achievements of 130 National champions in their one-month journey across ‘Incredible India’ as we present the 71st and most spectacular Miss World final ever,” Morley continued.
The current Miss World, Karolina Bielawska of Poland, who is in India promoting the beauty pageant, expressed her excitement to hand over the crown in this “beautiful country” that upholds the same ideals as Miss World.

“In the entire world, India has the best hospitality. You make me feel at home even though this is only my second time here. You support the same ideals—diversity and unity—in your life. We would love to demonstrate to the world your basic values of family, respect, love, and kindness. There is so much more to see here, and it would be the ideal idea to bring the entire globe here for a month and show them everything India has to offer, according to Miss World 2022.

The incumbent Miss India World Sini Shetty, who will compete for her nation in the fast-paced competition, expressed similar excitement and anticipation about India hosting the event.

I can’t wait to meet all of my sisters from around the world and welcome them to India by showcasing the diversity and true values of India. I am truly looking forward to and enthusiastic about this experience. I sincerely hope you enjoy your vacation in India,” she remarked.

Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000), and Manushi Chillar (2017) are the six Indian winners of the illustrious title.
