Kerala: 8-year-old girl died after a mobile phone explodes in her hand

An 8-year-old girl in Kerala’s Thrissur district died on Monday after the mobile phone exploded in her hands while she was watching cartoons, police said.

According to police, the reason for the explosion could be the overheating of the battery due to prolonged usage of the phone.

Police informed the girl died on the spot after the major explosion.
Police are yet to find the exact cause of the explosion and it will be done after a forensic examination of the phone.

“The blast impact was heavy. Her right palm and face suffered serious injuries. Neighbors also said the sound was also very high,” said a senior police officer. An accidental death case was registered also.
