The flight departed from Pune to New Delhi and the SAF blend was supplied by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL)

Prime Minister praised the historic step of making aviation fuel from ethanol and the launch of India’s first domestic commercial flight on indigenous feedstock and Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Replying to a tweet by Union Minister Hardeep Puri, Mr Modi said that this is indicative of the government’s collective priority towards sustainable development.

By 2025, India aims to blend 1% SAF in Jet fuel, requiring around 14 crore liters of SAF per annum.
