Noida: A devastating fire at a residential apartment building in Noida claimed the lives of two people and forced the evacuation of nearly 50 families, with investigators examining whether an electric vehicle (EV) battery may have triggered the blaze. The incident has raised fresh concerns about fire safety in high-rise residential complexes and the proper charging and storage of lithium-ion batteries.

The fire broke out during the early hours, sending thick black smoke through multiple floors of the apartment building. Residents were awakened by the smell of smoke and frantic cries from neighbours, prompting many to rush out of their homes while others remained trapped on balconies awaiting rescue.

As investigators continue gathering evidence, the tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of electrical safety, responsible battery handling, and robust emergency preparedness in rapidly growing urban communities.
