Goa: On Tuesday, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar met with the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Zhang Ming, at the SCO headquarters in Beijing.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the current regional and global situation and expressed their commitment to enhancing mutual cooperation between India and the SCO.
Dr. Jaishankar emphasized India’s commitment to the SCO’s principles and goals of enhancing regional cooperation in the areas of security, connectivity, and trade.
He also highlighted India’s strong support for the SCO’s efforts to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
Zhang Ming, for his part, appreciated India’s active participation in the SCO and reiterated the organization’s support for India’s efforts to maintain regional stability and security.
The SCO is a Eurasian political, economic, and security organization that was established in 2001. India became a full member of the SCO in 2017.
During his visit to China, Dr. Jaishankar is also expected to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and other senior Chinese officials on a range of bilateral and regional issues.
