Mumbai: Despite receiving good reviews from Bollywood stars, the newly released movie ‘Bheed’ starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles has not been able to draw in the masses. According to a report on boxofficeindia.com, the film managed to earn an estimated Rs 1.50 core nett over its first weekend, which is not an impressive number.

The movie, which hit the big screens on Friday, got off to a slow start, earning just Rs 40 lakh on its first day. The film saw minimal growth on Saturday, collecting an estimated Rs 55 lakh, and dropped again on Sunday with a collection of Rs 50 lakh. The film has been churning a lot of conversations and controversies, however, it did not seem to translate into box office numbers.

Director of the movie, Rana, revealed in an interview with IANS that the idea of making ‘Bheed’ in black and white was quite apt as ‘one cannot show a tragedy in color’. The movie, which is a social drama, revolves around the issue of population control and how it affects the lives of common people.

Despite the strong performances by the lead actors and the good reviews from Bollywood stars, it seems like the film failed to strike a chord with the audience. The slow start and the lackluster box office numbers suggest that the movie might not be able to recover its cost of production.

Overall, ‘Bheed’ is a well-made movie that highlights an important social issue. However, it seems like the audience was not ready for such a serious topic, especially during these times when people are looking for some light-hearted entertainment.
