The Guja is getting closer to Cyclone Biparjoy. The Gujarat shore is getting ever closer to Cyclone Biparjoy. In the meantime, the Kutch district of Gujarat had a 3.5 magnitude tremor on Wednesday night. There were no reports of property or human life loss.
The tremor was detected around 5:05 PM, 5 km west-southwest (WSW) of Bhachau in the Kutch region, according to an update from the Gandhinagar Institute of Seismological Research.
By June 15 evening, the potent cyclone is expected to pass over Saurashtra, Kutch, and the nearby Pakistani shores before coming ashore close to Jakhau Port in Kutch.
A “very high risk” seismic zone encompasses the Kutch district, where smaller earthquakes frequently happen.
On Wednesday, the Gujarat beaches of Saurashtra and Kachchh received a cyclone “Biparjoy” warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
By the evening of June 15, it is highly likely to proceed almost northeastward, traversing Saurashtra and Kutch, as well as the neighboring Pakistani beaches, between Mandvi (Gujarat) and Karachi (Pakistan), close to Jakhau Port (Gujarat).
“RED MESSAGE: Cyclone Warning for Saurashtra & Kutch Coasts. VSCS BIPARJOY overflew the NE Arabian Sea around 11:30 IST today, about 280 kilometers west of Jakhau Port in Gujarat and 290 km west of Devbhumi Dwarka. To cross by the evening of June 15th as VSCS. @WMO,” IMD tweeted.
On the evening of June 15, Cyclone Biparjoy is predicted to make landfall close to the Jakhau coast before moving over the Rann up to Rajasthan.
As a preventative safety measure before cyclone Biparjoy reached the Gujarat coast, some 4,500 people were relocated from their homes to shelter homes, according to Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Parth Talsania.
“We have shifted 4,500 people from the coastal areas to various shelter houses,” Talsania said in a statement to ANI. Additionally, the shelter homes make arrangements for food and medical requirements. We are keeping a close eye on the situation.
According to Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the arrangements and gave officials the go-ahead to be vigilant and take all necessary actions.
