New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has spoken about his deep interest in and connection with revered spiritual figure Neem Karoli Baba after watching the film Hanuman Ansh, which is based on the saint’s life, devotion and teachings.

In a video shared on Instagram, Sehwag recalled that he first heard about Maharaj Ji around a decade ago through a close friend who was a devotee. Since then, he said, he has continued to read about and listen to stories related to Neem Karoli Baba and his spiritual journey.

Sehwag Says Neem Karoli Baba Left a Deep Impression

Sehwag described his journey of learning about Neem Karoli Baba as something that continued to grow over the years. He said some spiritual personalities and experiences are difficult to explain completely through words.

“Some experiences, some people are such that there are not enough words to describe them. However much you try to tell about them, you cannot do justice,” Sehwag said.

He added that he felt an “immense attraction” towards Neem Karoli Baba, particularly because of his personality, devotion and the impact devotees believe his blessings had on their lives.

‘Hanuman Ansh’ Is a Beautiful Tribute, Says Sehwag

After watching Hanuman Ansh, Sehwag praised the film for presenting a glimpse into the life of Neem Karoli Baba. At the same time, he acknowledged that it would be difficult for a single feature film to capture the saint’s entire life and spiritual influence.

“I saw the film Hanuman Ansh a few days ago. It is impossible to draw out his life in one film. It is made very beautifully and is well written. I think this film is a beautiful tribute to Maharaj Ji,” Sehwag said.

Scene Involving Snakes Left an Impression

Sehwag also highlighted a particular scene involving Neem Karoli Baba and snakes that stayed with him after watching the film.

In the scene, a devotee compares Maharaj Ji with Lord Shiva and describes him as innocent. Maharaj Ji responds, “It is you who is innocent. The eyes see what is in our hearts.”

“That is perhaps what he wanted to say to all of us,” Sehwag said.

Sehwag Highlights Neem Karoli Baba’s Lasting Influence

The former cricketer also pointed out that Neem Karoli Baba continues to have a strong influence on devotees decades after his death.

According to Sehwag, spiritual figures with such a lasting impact appear only rarely in the history of a nation. He said the continued devotion of followers reflects the lasting impression Neem Karoli Baba made on people’s lives.

Sehwag Urges People to Watch ‘Hanuman Ansh’

While Sehwag believes Neem Karoli Baba’s complete life and spiritual journey cannot be portrayed through a single film, he feels Hanuman Ansh gives audiences an opportunity to discover more about the revered figure.

“Hanuman Ansh presents that one glimpse very well. If you know him, then watch the film, and if you haven’t heard of him, then watch it for sure,” Sehwag said.
