An IndiGo flight from Goa to Delhi returned to Manohar International Airport in Mopa on Tuesday, September 1, after a suspected technical issue with one of its engines was detected shortly after take-off.
The incident involved IndiGo flight 6E 2102, which departed from North Goa for Delhi at around 9:28 am. Shortly after the aircraft became airborne, the crew detected a suspected issue in one of the engines.
Following standard operating procedures, the pilots decided to turn the aircraft back to Goa. The flight subsequently made an emergency landing safely at Manohar International Airport.
All 229 Passengers Safe
IndiGo confirmed that all 229 passengers on board were safe following the landing. The airline said the pilots followed established safety procedures and informed the relevant authorities about the technical issue.
An IndiGo spokesperson said, “A technical issue was detected, shortly after takeoff, on IndiGo flight 6E 2102 operating from North Goa to Delhi on 01 September 2026. Following the standard operating procedure, the relevant authorities were informed, and the pilots turned back and landed the aircraft safely at Manohar International Airport.”
Alternative Arrangements Made for Passengers
The airline said alternative arrangements were being made to help passengers reach their destination in Delhi. The flight was expected to operate in the afternoon, subject to the necessary procedures and clearances.
The aircraft has been taken for detailed maintenance checks and will resume operations only after receiving the required clearances.
IndiGo also said it provided refreshments and regular updates to passengers while making efforts to minimise the inconvenience caused by the incident.
“We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers and made every effort to minimise it, including offering refreshments and timely updates. We have also made alternative arrangements for our customers to reach their destination,” the airline spokesperson said.
IndiGo Reiterates Safety Priority
Following the incident, IndiGo reiterated that the safety of its passengers, crew and aircraft remains its highest priority.
“The safety of our customers, crew, and aircraft remains our top priority at IndiGo,” the spokesperson said.
Another IndiGo Flight Had Conducted Go-Around Recently
The latest incident comes days after another IndiGo flight operating from Delhi to Gorakhpur carried out a precautionary go-around before landing safely.
On August 19, IndiGo flight 6E 2381 was approaching Gorakhpur when the crew decided to discontinue the initial landing and conduct a standard go-around as a safety precaution.
The aircraft subsequently landed safely, and all passengers and crew members disembarked normally.
