NewsClick’s founder and editor Prabir Purkayastha has taken legal action to quash the FIR registered against him and others.

He has approached the Delhi High Court for the same.

The petition also challenges Patiala House Court’s decision to grant remand to Prabir and the Human Resource Head Amit Chakravarty in this matter.

The Delhi High Court has reserved order on their pleas.

Counsel appearing for Purkayastha and Chakravarty contended that their arrest and remand cannot be sustained on several legal counts.

Which included the grounds of arrest were not supplied to them at the time of arrest and the remand order was passed by the trial court in a mechanical manner, in the absence of their lawyers.
