Over 100 local trains were canceled on Wednesday as a result of the intense downpour that pounded sections of Maharashtra, including Mumbai and surrounding districts. In Raigad, where a landslip occurred late on Wednesday night and confined over a dozen people, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert.

To proclaim a vacation for educational institutions, the Maharashtra education department gave instructions to its representatives in Thane, Palghar, and Raigad. This choice was made at the same time as the state government declared a holiday for all schools on Thursday in four districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar, as a result of a warning for heavy rain in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde went to the Disaster Management Department at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters to inspect the situation after the severe rains battered the city and its environs.

The Colaba and Santacruz observatories, which serve as indicators for the island city and its environs, reported 98.4 mm and 52.8 mm of rainfall, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
