JAPAN INDIA MARITIME EXERCISE 2023 (JIMEX 23) CONCLUDES

The Indian Navy hosted the seventh Japan India Maritime Exercise 2023 (JIMEX 23), which was held in the Bay of Bengal. The two sides said goodbye to one another with a traditional steam past. The Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) ship Samidare was commanded by RAdm Nishiyama Takahiro, Commander Escort Flotilla One, and the Indian Naval ships Delhi, Kamorta, and Shakti were under the command of RAdm Gurcharan Singh, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, during the six-day exercise.

JIMEX 23 saw intricate exercises conducted by the two fleets. Exercises at an advanced level were conducted by both sides in the surface, subsurface, and air aspects of maritime warfare. Along with the ships and their attached helicopters, fighter aircraft, maritime patrol aircraft, and a submarine also took part in the drill. With the revalidation of shared practices and improved interoperability between the IN and JMSDF, JIMEX 23 came to a successful conclusion.
