Indian State News: A depression that was left over from Cyclone Biparjoy pummelling areas of Rajasthan over the past two days, causing exceptionally severe rainfall that led to seven deaths in incidents related to the storm and 265 people being rescued by rescuers, according to officials.
They said that Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will visit the rain-stricken areas rather than making the scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday visits to Bundi, Kota, Jhalawar, and Dausa.
Gehlot will travel to the districts of Pali and Jodhpur on Wednesday after visiting Barmer, Sirohi, and Jalore on Tuesday.
Seven deaths have been attributed to rain-related occurrences in the past two days, according to P C Kishan, secretary of the department responsible for disaster management and assistance.
“Rajsamand was the scene of four of the seven fatalities. The drownings and other occurrences brought on by the severe rains resulted in the deaths, he noted.
