Bengaluru : A 32-year-old mechanical engineer has allegedly urinated on a 20-year-old woman’s seat in a non-sleeper KSRTC bus travelling from Vijayapura to Mangaluru on February 21. The incident took place during a scheduled dinner break in Kiresur near Hubballi city. The woman, who had gone to have food, returned to find the accused urinating on her seat and raised an alarm. However, the man apologised and did not disclose his personal details, so the driver and conductor were unable to get information about him. Although the KSRTC is considering filing a formal complaint against the man, the woman refused to register a complaint, and the bus continued with its scheduled journey.

The KSRTC clarified that an unreserved passenger in berth number 29, who was intoxicated, had urinated on seat number 3, which was witnessed by the female passenger who was supposed to sleep on the same seat. The driver, conductor, and other passengers confronted the passenger, got him off the bus, and left him near the hotel. The driver and conductor then washed and wiped the seat, and the female passenger was asked to travel in berth number 9.

The accused, who was not in his senses, had also argued with co-passengers and the bus crew. Although the victim lady refused to file a police complaint, the authorities are considering lodging a complaint to send a message to female travelers. The woman passenger reportedly suffered shock after the incident, and the KSRTC crew helped and assured her of safety and security.
