New Delhi : Former Indian captain Virat Kohli, who has been struggling, has made a comeback in the Asia Cup 2022 and will look to regain his form in the test format as India takes on Australia in the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Kohli has shown his prowess in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, scoring two centuries, but has struggled to replicate that success in the test format.
Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis spoke highly of Kohli ahead of the first test against Australia, calling him one of the best players in the game’s history. Stoinis believes that in order to win the four-match series in India, his team will need to defeat Kohli. “We will have to get the better of him to win this series, and I can tell you that we will be ready for him,” Stoinis said on the Backstage with Boria show.
There is a risk that India’s strategy to prepare rank turners to defeat Australia may backfire, leading most Indian batsmen to put in double shifts in the nets against slow bowlers before the series opener.
Kohli is currently in Nagpur with the Indian team preparing for the first test match against Australia, which begins on February 9th.
