New Delhi : Three employees of Marion Biotech, a Noida-based pharmaceutical company, have been arrested by the Noida police for their alleged involvement in the death of 18 children in Uzbekistan last year. The arrest was made after an FIR was lodged by a drugs inspector of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) against five officials of the company, including two directors, over the quality of its drugs. After checking samples of Marion Biotech’s drugs, the central and Uttar Pradesh state drug authorities found that 22 of them were “not of standard quality”. The arrested persons are Tuhin Bhattacharya, Head Operation; Atul Rawat, Manufacturing Chemist; and Mool Singh, Analytical Chemist. Marion Biotech had come under scrutiny in December 2021 for its cough syrup Dok-1, which was suspected to have caused the death of the children in Uzbekistan.
