Mumbai: Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker is set to tie the knot with Samajwadi Party’s Fahad Ahmad soon in an interfaith marriage. The couple has already started with their pre-wedding celebrations and shared beautiful pictures on social media. Speaking to Times of India ahead of the wedding, Swara mentioned how they are managing their wedding functions while keeping the traditions of their respective religions intact. The couple has planned things that are common in both their traditions like Haldi, Ubtan, Mehendi, and Sangeet. Swara also talked about their court marriage that took place last month under the Special Marriage Act, which is the only way for an interfaith couple to get married without converting.

Swara Bhasker met Fahad Ahmad during an anti-CAA protest in Mumbai on December 19, 2019. Fahad had first seen Swara in the movie Raanjhana and liked her performance. He was told that Swara is a good speaker and asked to have her address the crowd during the protest. When Swara reached the location, she kept shouting Fahad’s name while he was trying to fix the mic. The couple hit it off and the rest is history.

Interfaith marriages in India have always been a topic of debate, with many people facing criticism and backlash for marrying outside their religion. However, Swara and Fahad have shown that love knows no religion and that it’s possible to have a beautiful wedding while keeping the traditions of both religions intact.

The couple’s approach to their wedding functions is commendable, as they are not trying to change each other’s religions and are instead focusing on celebrating the common traditions. This sends a strong message to society, which often expects individuals to give up their religious identity when marrying outside their religion.

Swara and Fahad’s love story is a reminder that people from different backgrounds can come together and build a beautiful life together. It’s heartening to see that they are not only breaking societal norms but also paving the way for others to do the same. Their love story is an inspiration for many, and we wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
