Mumbai: Namrata Shrestha is a Nepali beauty queen, model, and actress. She was crowned Miss Nepal 2020 and represented Nepal at the Miss World 2021 pageant, where she finished in the top 40. Shrestha is also a social activist and philanthropist. She is known for her work on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Shrestha was born in Kathmandu, Nepal on July 19, 1997. She is the youngest of three siblings. She completed her schooling from St. Xavier’s School, Godavari and her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kathmandu University.
Shrestha began her modeling career at the age of 17. She has walked the ramp for several top designers and brands in Nepal. She has also appeared in several commercials and music videos.
In 2020, Shrestha participated in the Miss Nepal pageant. She won the title and was crowned Miss Nepal 2020. As Miss Nepal, she represented Nepal at the Miss World 2021 pageant. Xpert Times: What was it like to prepare for the Miss World pageant amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown?
Namrata Shrestha: It was definitely a challenge. The pageant was postponed several times due to the pandemic. And when it finally happened, there were a lot of restrictions in place. But I was determined to give it my all. I worked hard on my preparation and I’m glad that I was able to represent Nepal well at Miss World.
Xpert Times: What is your favorite thing about social media?
Namrata Shrestha: I love that social media allows me to connect with people from all over the world. I also like that I can use my platform to raise awareness about important issues.
Xpert Times: You were a kindergarten teacher before you became a beauty queen. What do you enjoy about teaching?
Namrata Shrestha: I love working with children. They are so innocent and curious. I enjoy teaching them new things and helping them grow and develop.
Xpert Times: You’ve been described as unpredictable. What does that mean to you?
Namrata Shrestha: It means that I’m always looking for new challenges and experiences. I’m not afraid to step outside of my comfort zone. I’m also a very spontaneous person. I like to go with the flow and see where life takes me.
