India tops world ranking in digital payments

India topped the list for digital payments in 2022, topping four other countries thanks to an incredible 89.5 million transactions.

According to the data, India accounted for 46% of all real-time payments done globally in 2022. According to the report, India has more digital payment transactions than the top four countries combined.

China comes in second with 17.6 million transactions, followed by Brazil in second place with 29.2 million transactions. According to data from MyGovIndia, Thailand came in at number four with 16.5 million digital transactions, followed by South Korea with 8 million.

The Incentive Scheme for the Promotion of RuPay Debit Cards and Low-Value BHIM-UPI Transactions is a program run by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to encourage the use of digital payments during the current fiscal year.
