India Retains Border-Gavaskar Trophy with Victory in Second Test

New Delhi : Following Australia’s loss in the second Test in Delhi by six wickets, Captain Pat Cummins has left for Sydney, reportedly due to a serious family illness. However, there is good news as he is expected to rejoin the squad ahead of the third Test in Indore. If Cummins is unable to return before the third Test, Steve Smith is likely to lead the Australian side in his absence.

Meanwhile, India has retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for a record fourth consecutive time with their victory in Delhi on Sunday.

In the post-match presentation after the loss, Cummins expressed disappointment and called for a review of what could have been done differently. The Australia squad for the upcoming Tests includes Pat Cummins (c), Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Peter Handscomb, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Lance Morris, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith (vc), Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, and David Warner.

India’s squad for the third and fourth Tests consists of Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul, S Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, R Jadeja, Mohd Shami, Mohd Siraj, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Umesh Yadav, and Jaydev Unadkat.
