The city of Toronto has been shaken by a tragic incident that claimed the life of Kartik Vasudev, a 21-year-old international student from India. Vasudev, who was studying at Seneca College, was shot dead while walking near the Sherbourne subway station on a Thursday evening. The senseless act of violence has left the local community and his family devastated.

Kartik had moved to Canada with dreams of achieving a better future through education. His family back home in India was not prepared for the devastating news, as Kartik had always been a well-mannered and kind-hearted individual. His father, Jitesh Vasudev, expressed his disbelief, stating that their son had come to Canada for a better life, only to fall victim to a random act of violence.

The incident took place in broad daylight, which has raised serious concerns about public safety. Local residents reported hearing gunshots and witnessing a suspect fleeing the scene. Authorities are currently reviewing surveillance footage and collecting evidence to identify the shooter. The suspect, who is described as a man between 5’6″ and 5’7″, was last seen running south on Glen Road.

This tragic loss has not only affected the Vasudev family but has also brought attention to the broader issue of street violence in major cities, particularly in areas where international students are known to reside.
