Govt shuts schools and colleges in Nipah virus containment zone

The Kerela Govt in the view to curb the spread of the Nipah virus has ordered all schools and colleges to remain close.

7 villages are traced where 2 deaths due to the virus occurred.

The education minister of the state V. Sivankutty issued the order for the closure of schools in the identified containment zones.

Minister also hinted towards a possible restriction on social gatherings and events in these areas.

Atanchery, Maruthonkara, Tiruvallur, Kuttiyadi, Kayakkodi, Villyapalli, and Kavilumpara are the villages which are identified as containment zone.

The list of the villages was posted on Facebook by Kozhikode District Collector A Geetha.

Vehicles travelling on national highways through these zones cannot stop in the area.
