govt sends emergency alert messages to citizens nationwide

On the direction of Department of Telecommunications various telecom service providers have sent alerts to Indian citizens.

The purpose of this is to test the effectiveness of the cell broadcasting based Emergency Alert System

At the announcement of partnership Department of Telecommunications and National Disaster Management Authority, the initiative was launched.

This initiative aims to improve emergency communication capabilities during disasters and prioritise the safety and welfare of the populace. 

The system would deem helpful during disasters like earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods.

Department of Telecommunications had tweeted about the alert messages to make the citizens aware about it.

After receiving the Alert! messages many citizens started worrying about some potential computer virus or possible system malfunction.

Although other users with the knowledge about the same were quick to respond.
