Five New Judges Sworn in at Supreme Court of India, Total Strength Rises to 32

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India welcomed five new judges on Monday, with the Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, administering the oath of office in a ceremony held at the court’s auditorium in its new building complex. The names of the five judges who were cleared by the central government two days earlier, are Justice Pankaj Mithal, Justice Sanjay Karol, Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah, and Justice Manoj Misra.

The addition of these five judges has brought the total number of judges in the Supreme Court to 32, just two shy of its full strength. The process of elevating these judges to the apex court began on December 13, 2022, when their names were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium.
