Indian President Droupadi Murmu is referred to as the “President of Bharat” in a dinner invitation for the G20 summit instead of “President of India”.

The move has sparked controversy all over the nation, gaining a polorized opinion on the same.

This is the first time the term ‘President of Bharat’ is used for an official invite to foreign leaders.

This immediately triggered speculation about a possible plan to change the name of the country from India to Bharat.

The same day, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra shared an image of an official card referencing the visit of “the Prime Minister of Bharat Shri Narendra Modi” to Indonesia for the “20th ASEAN-India Summit” on Sept. 7.

The move, some say is a dig at a coalition of more than two dozen opposition parties that gathered two months ago under the name I.N.D.I.A

Which stands for Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance and will challenge the ruling party at next spring’s national election.

The government, apart from the presidential invite, has given no hint of any plan to drop the name India.

The move aligns with BJP’s tact for changing names as an effort towards removing slavery mindset from the nation’s mind.

“We have to liberate ourselves from the slavery mindset which is visible in innumerable things within and around us,” the PM told the nation.

The govt has changed some names that originated from colonial rule and increasingly, those that are associated with Muslim heritage.

Many cities name like Aurangabad, Allahabad and Osmanabad is changed to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Prayagraj and Dharashiv respectively.

Interestingly, as per government estimates, the renaming of Allahabad cost the state government upwards of Rs 300 crore.

An estimated cost of Rs 14,304 crore would encure to rename India to Bharat.
