China released it’s new map which showed Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin, which was occupied by China in the 1962 war, as part of its territory.

It also claimed Taiwan and the disputed South China Sea as a part of it’s territory.

India on Tuesday rejected China’s new map which showed Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as part of its territory.

New Delhi also lodged a strong protest through diplomatic channels with the Chinese side, said MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi. “We reject these claims as they have no basis. Such steps by the Chinese side only complicate the resolution of the boundary question.”

Surprisingly, the development came days after Prime Minister Narendra  Modi and Chinese President Xi-Jinping’s conversation on the sidelines of the 15th edition of BRICS Summit in South Africa where the two leaders agreed “to intensify efforts at expeditious disengagement and de-escalation at the LAC”.

China’s fresh provocation comes just 10 days ahead of the G20 summit, being hosted by India this year.
