A routine immunization programme has started in Nagaland under the Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0 (IMI).

It aims to vaccinate pregnant women and children left out during routine immunization activities.

Vibeituonuo M. Sachu, Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare, launched the programme by administering the first dose to an infant at the Urban Primary Health Centre in Kohima.

We want to ensure that no child should suffer due to vaccine preventive disease“, said Sachu.

This is the first round of vaccination, in which around 209 sessions will take place, aiding 1885 children and 179 pregnant women across the state of Nagaland.

This will also ultimately improve the immunization rate of Nagaland, 58% ,which is lesser than the national average.

Sachu added , the healthcare workers will actively trace expecting mothers and children who have not received immunization yet.

The first phase would end on August 15, after which the second phase would start from Sep 11 to 16 , and the third phase would be from Oct 9 to Oct 14.
